KICK-OFF BRAINSTORMING SESSION: USM KAMPUNG ANGKAT MADANI (KAM) 2026

A strategic kick-off and brainstorming session for the USM Kampung Angkat MADANI (KAM) 2026 initiative was convened at the Vice Chancellor’s Office, chaired by YBhg. Dato’ Seri Naib Canselor. The session marked the preliminary alignment of institutional vision with the socio-economic realities of the urban poor community.
It was formally affirmed that USM KAM 2026 will be implemented at Kampung Melayu Air Itam, positioning the village as the focal site for structured community engagement and socio-economic upliftment under the MADANI framework.
The discussion centred on leveraging the cultural and heritage strengths of Kampung Melayu Air Itam as a foundation for inclusive and sustainable development.
Participants explored intervention pathways under the COMPASSION Sejahtera Framework, structured around four integrated pillars: Capacity Building, Immediate Relief, Facilities & Infrastructure Support, and Breaking the Poverty Cycle.
While “Breaking the Poverty Cycle” was identified as a long-term developmental aspiration, the meeting underscored that final prioritisation of interventions will be guided by a comprehensive community needs assessment and baseline study.
This phased approach reflects a commitment to evidence-based planning, participatory engagement, and measurable impact.
The initiative aims to transition from episodic assistance towards a structured, data-informed model of community transformation — integrating compassion with professional project governance to ensure sustainable socio-economic upliftment at Kampung Melayu Air Itam.
