MAINSTREAMING COMPASSION THROUGH THE WIBAWA PLATFORM
The Community Network Office continues to advance USM’s community empowerment agenda through a structured, intentional, and impact-driven approach under the COMPASSION (Community Program for Sustainable Impact Mission) framework, now being mainstreamed via the WIBAWA platform, managed by the Center for Development of Academic Excellence (CDAE), USM.
This initiative reflects a firm commitment to building capability, responsibility, and impact through a progressive learning journey grounded in structured training modules:
Beginner – Introducing the philosophy, framework, and core values of COMPASSION in community engagement
Intermediate – Strengthening project design, stakeholder mapping, and effective implementation of interventions
Advanced – Enhancing impact measurement, refining models, and integrating ESG and SDG frameworks
Professional – Developing strategic leadership, scaling impactful programmes, and institutionalising community transformation
At the heart of this effort lies the Community Network Office, serving as an ecosystem enabler that connects, supports, and strengthens collaboration across disciplines and sectors. Its role is anchored in:
Coordinating meaningful cross-faculty and industry partnerships
Ensuring consistency, quality, and standardisation in community project implementation
Strengthening monitoring, evaluation, and impact assessment systems
Supporting continuous capacity building for practitioners at all levels
Through the WIBAWA platform, this initiative seeks to cultivate a culture of purposeful engagement—one that is disciplined, compassionate, and accountable, with a clear focus on delivering real societal impact.
Ultimately, COMPASSION is more than a programme. It is a living commitment—an evolving ecosystem of transformation built on knowledge, guided by values, and driven by a sincere aspiration to create meaningful and measurable change for communities.
